DIDCOS offers unlimited storage and analysis opportunities. Telemetry data in the Cassandra database is suitable for storing and querying time series data. The platform developed with microservices can be scaled horizontally. Scalability is achieved by using a consistent mixed load balancing algorithm across cluster nodes.

What are the system components?

Platform: It is a corporate server or services running in the cloud where all lighting columns are defined, stored with their coordinates, features and other information, where data is stored, commands are managed, and where users, rules and user interfaces are defined.Lighting
Column and Luminaire: New or existing lighting columns. They must have energy from the grid or solar. If the luminaires do not have a driver, a driver will be required to be managed.
Management and Communication Unit: It is a hardware within the column that can process commands and rules received from the platform, manage the column elements, collect data and send it to the gateway or platform.
Gateway: It is a hardware component that ensures data/command exchange between the columns and the platform. It does not need to be in every column, the number and location of gateways are made according to the project, taking into account the communication costs and energy consumption.
Network: These are the protocols that ensure communication between the columns and between the columns and gateways, and with the platform. These can be direct access methods such as GSM, WiFi, NB-IOT or methods such as LoRa, RF working with low power and bandwidth.
Mobile Application: It is an iOS and Android application that offers most of the capabilities of the web application that users can use in the field.

How Does the System Work?

Since the column has all the necessary components in a new smart column installation, it is sufficient to only ensure communication and introduce the column to the platform.

Do I need to completely renew the columns?

No, we can make existing lighting columns manageable. For this, it is necessary to install hardware that can manage the luminaire and that can communicate with the center (or gateway). If the lighting component is old and very inefficient (for example, sodium vapor bulbs), it is recommended to replace the luminaire as well.

Do you have a solution where there is no energy line?

Yes, we can provide lighting with solar energy. The position of the column, the intensity and duration of lighting may vary depending on the panel and battery to be used. Likewise, if components such as cameras are desired on the column, the operation of these components may be limited. Alternatively, we can produce emergency lighting solutions for power outages in disaster situations with columns connected to the grid and containing batteries.

Do you have a solution in situations that are not covered by Network (GSM)?

Yes, if there is no GSM, NB-IOT, wired or Wi-Fi access in the project area, we can carry the communication between the columns to the point where there is internet access with methods such as LoRa, Ultra-wideband, RF.

According to what criteria is lighting optimization performed?

Lighting is optimized by evaluating 4 parameters together.
1. Sunrise and sunset times (automatically calculated according to the coordinates of the columns)
2. Ambient light (continuously measured with sensors)
3. Motion (with sensors, it is checked whether there is a pedestrian or vehicle motion around the column that will affect the lighting value)
4. Institution's own rules (day, time and lighting value rules determined by the institution. These rules can be defined individually, in groups or for all columns)

Can I intervene manually outside of the rules?

Yes, you can turn on and off all columns individually or in groups (region, street, etc.) or from the center, change the lighting intensity manually if desired. You can return to operation according to normal rules at any time.

Will I be aware of malfunctions?

The system can report malfunctions and warnings on itself to the center. Similarly, luminaire and LED malfunctions (if supported by the luminaire) are shown as warnings in the web application and mobile application. In this way, there is no need to check the columns constantly by eye. The personnel assigned for lighting control is saved in this way and the continuity of the lighting service can be provided with minimum interruption.

Does the system continue to learn after installation?

Yes, the platform continues to learn from the data collected for both lighting optimization and malfunction prediction. In this way, necessary warnings are given before a column component breaks down. Likewise, energy savings are constantly being improved.

Can I use it only as a software?

Yes, if your columns are manageable and have communication capabilities, they can be centrally managed by integrating with the platform either by your institution or by us, the desired rules can be run, reports can be obtained and maximum savings can be achieved.

Can I customize the web and mobile application screens?

Yes, you can customize the management panels, screens and rules in the web and mobile application through drag and drop without coding. API and SDK are available for developers for further customization or for embedding into your own application.

Can I manage users within the institution?

Yes, the user defined as the system administrator in the institution can manage roles and access rights within the institution.

In what languages can i use it?

The web and mobile application have English and Turkish user interfaces. If an interface in a language other than these is required, we can release a version within 1-2 days after translation.

Could I have other features besides lighting?

Yes, for the sensors to be installed (air quality, humidity, heat, wind,…) different smart city scenarios are also possible. The hardware and platform inside the column are ready for these sensors. In addition, various security, marketing, field management, occupational safety, etc. requirements are met with cameras and object and behavior recognition.
